Tami Stronach Dance works are emotionally charged and incorporate a European flair while retaining a humorous undercurrent. The company has performed at over twenty venues in NYC including sold out seasons at Danspace Project at Saint Marks Church, The Here Arts Center, Dance New Amsterdam, La MaMa Etc., Galapagos Art Center, The Williamsburg Arts Nexus, Washington Square Church, The Next Stage, Context Studios, Dixon Place, and BAX. TSD was a company in residence at the Here Arts Center in 2006 and has toured nationally and internationally. TSD has set repertory on Rhoad Islands’ Island Moving Company in 2006 and returned to create a new work for them in 2008. TSD additionally created a new work for the TSD New York season at Danspace Project at Saint Marks Church, October 23-25, 2008.
During the Tami Stronach Dance Company residency, the three-member company gave an informal performance that included three solos and the duet Here, dear, a dance/theater piece involving a man and a woman that looks at the complexity of giving and receiving. Performed by Lindsey Dietz Marchant and Darrin Wright, the duet examined the way the body seeks out connections despite the mind’s reservations, as well as the idiosyncratic ways one person connects or fails to connect with another. Highly physical movement is juxtaposed with minuscule gestures, such as an intake of breath, an adjustment of the toe, a biting of the lower lip requiring the audience to peer in and get closer to the characters.
