Gina Gambill is a Los Angeles writer and director of film and theater. A graduate of American Film Institute Directing Program MFA – where she was awarded director of the Year two consecutive years-, UCLA Theater Design MFA, UCLA Design BA and UCLA Dance BA. She uses her expertise as a painter, dancer, choreographer, writer, and director to create innovative theater works and films.
Gina’s residency involved a two-part workshop, exploring the power of movement and storytelling as a means of self-expression: the first part was titled “Using it All – A Multidisciplinary Approach to Creating Performance Pieces”. By keeping the participant’s eye away from any predictable end result, new choices occurred. The second part of her residency was co-funded with the Alfred University Theater Department. She and Brian Powell, a well known NYC/LA Actor/Director, held a Comedia workshop for one week, which ended in riveting performance at the end of the week.
